How to translate YouTube videos to Hindi in real time (free)

Step-by-step guide to translating any YouTube video into Hindi while you watch — no copy-pasting, no waiting for transcripts.

By SyncDub Team

YouTube has billions of videos in English, Spanish, Korean, Japanese and dozens more languages — but most of what Hindi-speaking learners and casual viewers actually want to watch isn't in Hindi. Subtitles are slow, often wrong, and they force you to read instead of listen. This guide shows you how to get real Hindi dubbing on any YouTube video, for free, in under two minutes.

What you need

  • Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera or Arc (any Chromium browser).
  • The SyncDub AI extension (side-loadable; ~90 KB).
  • Headphones — without them you'll hear both the original audio and the dub, which gets confusing fast.

Step-by-step

  1. Download syncdub-extension.zip from syncdub.ai/download.
  2. Extract it anywhere on your machine (Desktop works fine).
  3. Open chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode.
  4. Click 'Load unpacked' and select the extracted SyncDub folder.
  5. Open YouTube and play any video.
  6. Click the SyncDub icon in your toolbar. Pick 'English → Hindi' in the language menu. Hit Play.

What to expect

The first time you turn it on for a video, the dub kicks in within about 1 second of pressing play. After that the dub follows the original audio with roughly 320 ms of lag — fast enough that the speaker's mouth movements still feel in sync.

Tips for the best experience

  • Start with videos you've seen before. You'll quickly learn to ignore the visual lag.
  • For lectures and podcasts, mute the original audio in the extension menu so you only hear the dub.
  • For music videos, leave the original audio at full volume — the dub doesn't help much with melody.
  • If a video has a lot of background noise, the dub occasionally drops syllables. Just rewind 10 seconds.

When NOT to use this

If you only need to read the content, YouTube's auto-translated subtitles are good enough. SyncDub is for when you want to actually listen — language-learning, comprehension of fast speakers, and casual viewing without subtitles.
