Install SyncDub

Manual install in 2 minutes.
Free while in beta.

SyncDub is currently in private beta — we ship via direct download, not the Chrome Web Store. Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Arc.

Manual install

Extension build · zip download

Recommended · download the extension build, extract it, then load it from your browser's extensions page.

Download syncdub-extension.zip

Extract the zip, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, then click Load unpacked and select the extracted folder.

This is the same manual process for Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Arc. Only the extensions URL changes: chrome://extensions / edge://extensions/ brave://extensions.

Install guide

Four steps, no scripts.

Download the extension build once, then load it manually from your browser's extensions page.

Step 1

Download the extension zip

Click Download syncdub-extension.zip. It lands in your Downloads folder. Right-click → "Extract All…" to a folder you'll remember.

Step 2

Open your browser's extensions page

Open chrome://extensions in Chrome. If you're using Edge / Brave / Opera / Arc, open that browser's extensions page instead.

Step 3

Turn on Developer mode

The toggle is in the top-right corner of the extensions page. Turn it on so the extra buttons appear.

Step 4

Click 'Load unpacked' and pick the extracted folder

Click Load unpacked, go to the folder you extracted in Step 1, and select the folder that contains manifest.json. The SyncDub icon appears in your toolbar. Pin it.

That's it.

Open YouTube (or any video site), click the SyncDub toolbar icon, pick a language, and the extension translates the audio in real time. Sign in with the same email you used here to use your minutes.

FAQ

Installation questions.

Why isn't this on the Chrome Web Store yet?+

We are in private beta. Direct distribution lets us ship fixes the same day something breaks. Once we leave beta we'll publish there.

Will Chrome warn me that this is unsafe?+

Loading an unpacked extension shows a generic 'developer mode' banner — that's Chrome's own warning, not a malware flag.

Does this work in Edge / Brave / Opera / Arc?+

Yes. All four are Chromium-based and load unpacked extensions the same way. Use edge://extensions, brave://extensions, opera://extensions, or arc://extensions instead of chrome://extensions.

How do I update the extension?+

We'll publish new zips here. To update, download the latest build, replace your extracted folder, then click 'Reload' under SyncDub on the extensions page.

Can I have multiple side-loaded extensions?+

Yes. Each gets its own card on the extensions page.

Still stuck?

We can screenshare with you for 5 minutes and finish the install together.
