Privacy policy
This policy explains what data SyncDub AI ("SyncDub," "we," "us") collects through our website (tahaimam.me) and our browser extension, why we collect it, and how it is handled. We do not sell your personal data and we do not run advertising on our own products.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address, and name if you sign up with a social login provider.
- A securely hashed password if you sign up with email/password (we never store plain-text passwords).
- Your account's credit/minute balance and usage history within the product.
Billing information
- Purchases are handled by a licensed third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- We retain your name, email, purchase amount, and transaction status for your order history and support purposes.
Product usage
- Minutes consumed, source/target language pairs, and timestamps of translation sessions.
- Basic technical diagnostics (errors, extension version, browser type) used to fix bugs.
Automatically collected information
- IP address, general device/browser type, and approximate region, collected automatically for security, fraud prevention, and diagnostics.
Extension permissions
Our browser extension requests the following permissions, used strictly for the stated purpose:
- Active tab / scripting — to detect and interact with the video player on the page you are actively translating.
- Tab audio capture — to capture the audio of the tab you choose to translate. Audio is only captured while you have actively started a translation session.
- Background processing — to process captured audio in the background while a session is active.
- Local storage — to save your login session and preferences on your device.
- Sign-in support — to support social/account sign-in.
- Alarms / notifications — to refresh your session token and notify you about your remaining balance.
2. What we do not collect
- We do not record or permanently store the audio of videos you translate.
- We do not store the translated audio output after it has been streamed back to you.
- We do not log or track the specific URLs or titles of videos you watch.
- We do not access tabs where you have not actively started a translation session.
3. How audio is processed
When you start a translation, audio from your active tab is streamed from your browser to our backend over an encrypted (TLS/HTTPS) connection, processed to generate a translated voice output, and streamed back to your browser for playback. Audio and its transcript are processed only for the duration of the request and are not retained by us afterward. Where we rely on specialized third-party infrastructure to perform parts of this processing, those providers are bound by their own confidentiality and data-handling terms and are not permitted to use your content to identify you or for purposes unrelated to delivering the Service.
4. Where your data is stored
Account, billing, and usage records are stored with reputable, security-audited infrastructure providers. Data may be processed in the United States, the European Union, or other regions depending on the specific provider and service used. All providers we work with maintain their own security and compliance programs appropriate to the data they handle.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use first-party cookies and browser storage strictly for authentication (keeping you signed in) and for remembering basic preferences (e.g. selected language). We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site ad networks. We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals because no industry-standard mechanism for doing so has been adopted, but we do not track you across unrelated third-party sites regardless.
6. Data sharing
We share data only with the specialized infrastructure and service providers necessary to operate SyncDub — for example, hosting and database providers, payment processing, and the technical systems that perform translation and voice synthesis. We do not disclose the identity of our individual technology vendors publicly, as this is treated as confidential business information. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SyncDub, our users, or the public.
7. Data retention
We retain account and usage data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal account data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain billing records for tax/accounting purposes under applicable law.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Residents of certain jurisdictions (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA) may have additional statutory rights, including the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. We do not sell personal information as defined under CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, email us — we respond within 14 days.
9. Children's privacy
SyncDub is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (TLS) in transit and access-controlled databases, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own by the infrastructure providers described above. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border data transfer.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
